• Question: Has anybody that you know ever lost a life in a lab?

      No, I don’t know of anyone who’s ever died or been seriously injured in a lab. Even when working with dangerous experiments, we take safety precautions very seriously and make sure everyone stays safe and unharmed.

      Not in a lab, but I don’t really work in a lab. I work outdoors sometimes on aircraft, and people have definitely lost their lives doing that. People in the military lose their lives in combat whilst flying the aircraft we work on, so we have to do as best a job we can.

      @Sophie x No. But last year one person I know died in a cycling accident in London and another died falling down the stairs. Science is safe.

      No, fortunately not! I know astronomers who have gotten altitude sickness, but they’re usually taken down off the mountain swiftly and well cared for – that’s the worst I’ve heard of.
