There are four fundamental types of force. Gravity is actually the weakest of the four! We think it’s so strong because it’s the one we think about the most, as it’s around us all the time.

However, the strongest type of force is called the ‘strong nuclear force’, but it has such a short range that we don’t really give it that much thought. It only reaches about as far as the size of a nucleus, keeping it glued together.

The electromagnetic force is actually much stronger than gravity – for all gravity keeps your feet planted on the ground, it’s the electromagnetic force that keeps your feet from going -through- the floor! Gravity is ultimately pretty weak, it’s just the one we’re most familar with since we’re large enough to be affected by it!
