• Question: is your eye colour supposed to change?

      It’s not necessarily supposed to, but it can! A lot of babies are born with blue eyes, for example, but change to brown or another colour as they get a bit older.

      Trauma could cause a change in eye colour, and so can the colour of your hair, appearance-wise anyway! During puberty or pregnancy the pigment may darken slightly. But on the whole, eye colour doesn’t change after the first year or two of life.

      Once you’re an adult, generally it doesn’t change, though with certain eye colours the lighting can make a bigger difference to the way the colour looks! Babies usually have eyes that are a different colour than they will when they were older (and kittens have the same thing)!

      @FLUFFY LAMPOST Emotions can change eye colour, such as anger or love, and about 10% of the population have eyes that change colour with age. However, any rapid or dramatic change in eye colour could indicate a problem and would need to be assessed by an eye doctor.
