      Atoms are made up of tiny sub-atomic particles – positively charged protons, neutrally charged neutrons and negatively charged electrons. The protons and neutrons form a tiny core called a nucleus, and the electrons whizz around outside the nucleus a bit like the planets orbit the Sun.
