      The things I work on are so cold that they don’t exist without us creating them, so I’ve never discovered anything that was already cold. The coldest thing I’ve made, though, was a tiny cloud of rubidium atoms about a millimetre across which I cooled down to almost -273C with lasers. It’s impossible to go any colder than this!
