Discovering things! When you discover something new, then you’re the first person in the whole of history to know it. Even if it’s something very small, it’s amazing when you realise that no one else has ever known something about the world that you know now.

@HermioneBat Steven is right – it’s all about the discovery. And also, to be honest, sometimes it just feels like you’re playing all the time. Puzzles, experiments, computers. And it’s especially fun if you work with other people in a shared aim. Lots of discussion and joking around. And lots of laughter (and tears!).

I don’t really get to discover many new things in my role, for me it’s applying science to solve problems and help people. I’d love to be able to solve some of the big mysteries like those around black holes or dark energy though 🙂
