@579frcc29 I was the only woman invited to a conference and they gave us a traditional dinner, sitting on the floor. I was there, the only woman, in a floor full of about 50 men. About half way through I looked up to see they had all got up and disappeared to the side of the room leaving me alone in the middle of the floor. Very very odd!!!!

It was a good kind of strange, but I was with friends in Japan at a traditional soba restaurant, and the woman who owned the place found out I was an astronomer, and got very excited, and came back with a print of a painting of a dragon that she had been given by the artist. She had put gold leaf on it herself before giving it to me, and said she was really glad that I had come, and that she thought I had been brought to the restaurant so that I could have the painting. It was a really humbling experience, and very unexpected. I mean to frame the picture and put it on my wall as a reminder. It’s kept safe in a folder for now.
