@859frcc45 For me, my biggest challenge is trying to understand things. The universe is a very complicated place with complex mathematics and physics used to try and explain it all. So it’s tricky. But the beauty of it all is that, when something finally clicks, and all that hard work has paid off, it’s the best feeling in the world!
Weirdly enough, my biggest challenge is usually figuring out how to ask the question I want to answer.
Mostly I deal with serious mathematical problems, but it’s difficult to take a question in words like “How does a magnet work?” and write that question as a mathematical equation that I can solve. I often spend more time trying to come up with a well-formed sensible question than I do trying to answer that question!
I have a lot of different roles in my current job (I’m working on a number of different projects sort of at the same time, plus doing outreach activities like I’m a Scientist, plus I have some management duties) so I think the biggest challenge is finding the right balance of time to spend on each project, while also managing to fit in some time to take care of myself and relax!
My biggest challenge hasn’t actually been science-related. I started with my company as a graduate, with hundreds of people senior to me. We get project work allocated to us, but it’s a bit chicken and egg at start. I need experience to be able to do the work, so I can’t get allocated work, but then I can’t get the experience. So it’s been difficult getting the right opportunities and finding people with the time to mentor me, but it has happened, gradually!
