• Question: When will we have humanoid robots?

      @Shar37 we already have them! A few years ago one was developed for research and is currently undergoing testing. It looks a bit like a cyberman from Dr Who but I would think in another 20 or so years they will be commonplace.

      They’re being made! There’s even one up on the Space Station. They do tend to fall over a lot, though — if you want a fun video, go look up the robots falling over as part of the DARPA challenge from a week or two ago!

      As the others have said, they sort of exist already. We’re also making huge strides in artificial limbs at the moment – I’d say give it another 20 years and we could have proper humanoid robots that really move like people do, and maybe 50 years for robots that might be totally indistinguishable from humans…
