Atoms are pretty important! Atoms make up everything around you – everything you see, hear, touch smell and taste. Without atoms, the chemical elements couldn’t exist – without chemical elements, then molecules wouldn’t exist, then proteins wouldn’t exist, then life wouldn’t exist!

We’re made of atoms, just like everything else. If you removed any one atom from your body with a magic, tiny pair of tweezers than you could still live. If you removed two atoms, you could still live. If you removed hundreds, thousands or even millions of atoms, you could still live. But if you took all of the atoms out of our bodies, then there’d be nothing left of us at all!
