I have lots of hobbies – I play guitar, play keyboard, I do a lot of photography and quite a lot of creative writing. There’s a lot of creativity involved in doing science, and that often shows in the hobbies that scientists have!
@ jenjen123 I have a few – up until a few months ago I used to sing in three choirs, but it became a bit time-consuming! Now I do a lot of exercise (I’m old and fat so need to) – I started running a few weeks ago (urgh), I do a LOT of walking, pilates (for my back), and I’m trying to finish walking all the Wainwright hills of the Lake District – there are over 300 and I’ve got about 10 left. I also played football until a year ago when I had this awful back injury (note to self: don’t play a young persons game when you’re not). In my time I have tried loads of sports including things like gymnastics (which I loved but you really do have to be 12) and cycling (I’ve cycled to Brighton 3 times!). And I love cooking, food and wine. In fact that’s what I do the most. I’m either thinking about food, preparing food or eating food.
My main hobby is ticking things off my ‘bucket list’. Have you heard of those? Basically I have a list of things I want to do! Last year I swam with dolphins, went to America and tried skydiving. This year I’m going to do a triathlon, ride a camel and go to a new continent. Keeps me busy!
I also go climbing and play squash and badminton. I’m not that great at any of those, but I try. That’s totally what counts.
I try and keep a few hobbies active at any point in time, or I start to go stir-crazy! Right now I’m learning Japanese, which is a huge challenge, writing for my blog (I answer questions about space), and playing video games 🙂
