• Question: if you had a large, empty field, what kind of experiments would you do?

      @AmyG I would get a bunch of seismometers and a big giant vibrating truck (called a vibroseis) and use it to send waves through the earth to be picked up by the seismometers. That way I would be able to work out exactly what was underneath our feet.

      I would leave it large and empty, and invite people to come lay in it and watch the stars under a truly dark sky. It’s a wonderful experience, and with the city lights around you tend to miss a lot of the stars.
