      It depends how good you are! A PhD student earns around £13,000 per year, a lecturer might get £40,000 or more, a professor will get around £80,000 and then above that it depends on how much the university thinks you’re worth. I’ve heard it described as being like a football transfer market once you get that senior. A professor I know gets almost $200,000 per year – that’s the most I’ve heard of!
