• Question: What would happen to the ocean and the earth if the sun died?

      @AmiePanda Well in about 10 billion years time our star will be dying and turn into a red giant. It will expand into the orbit of Earth heating it up. The oceans will evaporate and the Earth will burn and be destroyed.

      If the sun just disappeared, about 8 minutes later, everything would cool down until it froze. And then we would all die, unless we were really really clever with our nuclear power sources.

      If the sun goes through its natural death process, then like Lidunka said, we’re going to boil off the oceans, and the earth may even be consumed in the Sun’s atmosphere!
