Hmm – my two absolute favourite scientists are Paul Dirac and Emmy Noether, but neither of them are very well known outside of physics! (They really should be, though, they’re two of the smartest people who have ever lived…if you get a chance, look them up!)

Slightly more well known, I’m a huge admirer of the astronomer Carl Sagan – you might not have heard of him, but your parents probably have! He was very famous in the 1980s, which is still well before I was born.

In terms of more recent people you might have heard of, I’m a big fan of the American astronomer and TV presenter Neil deGrasse Tyson, and of course I think Brian Cox has done a really amazing job of getting science back onto our television screens and sharing science with everyone. Sharing science is just as important as doing research, so the more people shouting about how great it is, the better!
